Her French Canadian and Italian relatives, her childhood, early adulthood, and the processes of recollecting them. Divided into five parts: Mortality; Brain Jog; the Quest; What Goes Around...; The Future Is Now; followed by notes and acknowledgements. Alternates between stories from the life of the author, her friends and relatives, and the murder of a childhood friend by a Hartford serial child abuser named Robert Malm. The author's efforts at retelling the story of Malm's life, trial, and Connecticut execution, and their intersection with her life.
