A pictorial history of Van Buren, Maine at the beginning of the twentieth century. Most of the book's photos were taken by Joseph Michael Bouchard (b. 1869) and C.C. Caron, reproduced out of their original glass-plate form to be featured in this American Bicentennial celebration of a town in the St. John River Valley. Photos are architectural, social, commercial, and religious in scope, with a large emphasis on community life.
